Essay Prompt:
What role does Catholic Social Teaching play in my personal development?
How does it affect me and my future professional endeavors?

Your essay should highlight at least 2 of the following 8 Tenets of Catholic Social Teaching:

1. Life and Dignity of the Human Person
2. Call to Family, Community and Participation
3. Rights and Responsibilities
4. Subsidiarity
5. Option for the Poor and Vulnerable
6. The Dignity of Work & the Rights of Workers
7. Solidarity
8. Care for God’s Creation

 REQUIREMENTS: 

• • • Word document in English
    • Not exceeding 850-900 words or three (3) pages of 8.5” x 11.0” size, with page numbers centered at the bottom margin
    • Format: 1.5 line spacing using 12-point, Times New Roman font
    • Any notes or references must be placed at the end of the text, properly cited within the text, and should not exceed the specified page limit

SUBMISSION

• In a Word file containing the text of the essay titled “The Ignatian Essay” 
• Attached Word file to an email that includes the following author’s information: 
  • • • Your full name
      • School attending 2026-2027
      • Theology &/or English teacher’s name and class section
• Send email to institutopedroarrupe@ceimiami.org by October 15th, 2026, submission deadline

Please include your Name & School in the email Subject line

EVALUATION AND AWARD:

• The submitted essays will be evaluated anonymously by the journal’s editorial board
• Participants will be notified of the decision regarding the winning essay by
  November 20th, 2026
• The winning essay will be published in the Winter edition of El Ignaciano & a cash prize will be granted to the author.

Tema del ensayo
¿Qué papel juega la Doctrina Social de la Iglesia en mi desarrollo personal?
¿Cómo me afecta a mí en mis proyectos profesionales futuros?

Tu ensayo debe destacar al menos 2 de los siguientes 8 principios de la Doctrina Social de la Iglesia:

1.   La vida y la dignidad de la persona humana.
2.   Llamado a la familia, la comunidad y la participación.
3.   Derechos y responsabilidades.
4.   Subsidiaridad.
5.   Opción por los pobres y vulnerables.
6.   La dignidad del trabajo y los derechos de los trabajadores.
7.   Solidaridad.
8.   Cuidar la creación de Dios.

REQUISITOS

• Documento de Word en inglés.
• No debe superar las 850-900 palabras o tres (3) páginas de tamaño 8.5” x 11.0”, con los números de página centrados en el margen inferior.
• Formato: interlineado de 1,5 líneas con fuente Times New Roman de 12 puntos.
• Cualquier nota o referencia debe colocarse al final del texto, citarse adecuadamente dentro del texto y no debe exceder el límite de páginas especificado.

PRESENTACION

•  En un archivo de Word que contenga el texto del ensayo titulado «The Ignatian Essay».
•  Adjunte el archivo de Word a un correo electrónico que incluya la siguiente información   del autor:

• • • Su nombre completo
    • La escuela donde estudia en el curso 2026-2027
    • El nombre de su profesor de Teología y/o de Inglés y en cuál sección.
• Envíe el correo electrónico a institutopedroarrupe@ceimiami.org antes del 15 de octubre, 2026, plazo máximo para la presentación.
• Por favor, incluya su nombre y el de su escuela en el asunto del correo electrónico.

EVALUACIÓN Y PREMIACIÓN

• Los ensayos presentados serán evaluados de forma anónima por la junta editorial de la revista.
• La decisión sobre el ensayo ganador se les notificara a los participantes antes del 20 de noviembre, 2026.
• El ensayo ganador se publicará en la edición de invierno de El Ignaciano, y al ganador se le otorgará un premio en efectivo.
