US Bishops invite support for the Church in Africa through the Solidarity Fund for the Church in Africa, created by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) that provides American Catholics with an opportunity to join Pope Leo in supporting the Church in a continent where the faith is growing rapidly, but where the Church has limited capacity to support its pastoral needs and faces severe hardships.

Church condemns the execution of three death-row inmates in the U.S. Three death-row inmates were executed by lethal injection in the United States on Thursday, August 13, in three different states. Reacting to the court’s ruling, Bishop Brendan J. Cahill, chair of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Migration, said in a press statement that the T.P.S. revocation represented ‘a moral crisis when returning [immigrants] to their country of origin is not a safe or reasonable option. In the meantime, an emergency measure, supported by U.S. bishops, that requires the secretary of Homeland Security to extend Haiti’s T.P.S. designation to 2029 has already passed the House and is under consideration in the Senate.

The Vatican today responded to a misrepresentation of the pope’s role by the U.S. ambassador to the Holy See, Brian Burch, by reaffirming that “the pope always speaks as a shepherd.”

Bashar Fawadleh, de 39 años, es el párroco de Taybeh, el último pueblo completamente cristiano de Palestina, la Efraín bíblica donde Jesús se refugió antes de la Pasión, y que estos últimos años vive, junto con sus fieles, su propia Pasión ante el hostigamiento de los colonos judíos y el desinterés de la comunidad internacional.
